OH NO!!!
Oh my goodness you are never going to believe this! Today was super cold out there and believe it or not we had about 4 kindergarten students from various classes stick their tongue to metal!!!
I was brutally honest with the kids about touching their tongue or lip to metal and the damage or pain that occurs. My intention was not to scare the children, but I really wanted them to understand the severity of this action. Can you please follow up on this at home so that we can avoid this painful experience from occuring again!

Patterning
As we are outdoors enjoying the beautiful weather and engaging in winter sports, it seems fit to complete activities indoors that celebrate winter! This week (and last) was the introduction to rotational work where work for a day needs to be completed before moving on to free play.
We have been working on identifying colour and shape patterns for quite some time, but this week we finally applied our skills! After working on tricky patterns as a whole group, the children were free to create their own pattern for a winter scarf. Another group matched touqes to scarves for snowmen, and the rest played an open hand of "go fish" for quick letter retrieval (or sound).

Another Note Tote
The New Year brings new Note Totes! They get sticky, lost, full of sparkles, and downright too easy for the kids to recognize their own first name. I think they are up for a new challenge! This time, Note Totes will have last names on the outside. Please remember to continue sending your child's Note Tote back and forth to school; it is used as a teaching tool when it comes to letters, sounds, and other various activities at dismissal time. Furthermore, it teaches your child responsibility, independence, and procedure. Thanks for your support!
