Magnetic Attraction

Here is an entry that has been sitting lost in space...sorry, it is a bit old!

The children explored the use of magnets in February. First they tested items in the basket to see if the items were attracted to or not attracted to a magnet. In an effort to share their learning, some students were happy to draw a picture of their discovery and even went so far as to label their objects before placing it under the right heading.

I wish I could have captured some of their expressions when a paper clip "jumped" out of their hand onto the magnetic wand or when they moved the wand close enough to the paper clip between their thumb and finger to move it slowly from a vertical to horizontal position! It was priceless!

It was a busy day of catching up on everything that happened over March Break!

Wow....did I ever miss everyone!

 

 

Time flies doesn't it?

I am sure that the next few months will be just as rewarding as the last few!

My Helpers

If you remember back to the beginning of the school year I posted information about some of the activities we complete when it is a student's turn to be my helper. Back in September we would count letters in a name, talk about letters and sounds etc.. But my how things change! Below is the chart we are currently using each morning to discuss a student's last name:

 

claps = syllables

hidden words = sight words

basement letteres = letters that go below a base line for printing

Fun Times!

Whew...did we ever have a fun time on Thursday! It would have been a shame to let the most perfect packing snow go to waste....so we had a visit with our Big Buddies in the great outdoors and built a big fort.

Not quite this awesome, but pretty close! LOL
